Time n Tell helps you record activities and journal entries. This policy explains what the app and website handle, why it is needed, and the choices available to you.
Information we handle
- Account information: your email address, optional name, account identifier, and authentication or security information needed to create and protect your account.
- Content you choose to save: activities and their timestamps, durations, notes, journal entries, and related identifiers.
- AI Access: if you choose to connect a compatible local AI client, Time n Tell stores the active AI Access key's lookup prefix, creation and last-used times, and one-way verification data so it can authenticate and revoke that key. The plaintext key is shown only once and is not stored by Time n Tell. AI Access is limited to activity categories, start and end times, duration, and activity notes. It cannot read journals, create or change data, or access your account or other API keys.
- Route recording: if you opt in and start an activity with route tracking, the app accesses precise location during that active recording, including while your iPhone is locked, to draw the observed route. The route record contains coordinates, timestamps, location accuracy, and limited battery and thermal readings. Time n Tell stores this record only on your device, does not upload or synchronize it, and excludes it from device backups.
- Voice transcription: when you tap the microphone, audio is streamed for realtime transcription. Time n Tell does not store the raw audio in its own database. AssemblyAI's paid Time n Tell workspace is opted out of model training, and its Streaming product does not retain audio or transcripts under that configuration. The resulting text is saved only when you choose to add it to an activity or journal entry.
- Technical information: limited device, network, and product-interaction information used by our authentication provider to operate and secure sign-in.
- In-app behavioral analytics: when you are signed in and use the app, Time n Tell records lightweight product events — such as starting or stopping an activity, saving a journal entry, or creating a personal API key — to understand how the app is used and to improve it. These events are attributed to your account identifier and include only the activity category and a few boolean flags (for example, whether route tracking was enabled). No journal text, activity notes, key values, or route data is captured. The app also reports crash and error diagnostics to help make it more stable. This data is processed by PostHog's EU cloud.
- Website analytics: when you visit timentell.com, Vercel Web Analytics records anonymous page-view information such as the page viewed, referrer, approximate city and country, browser, operating system, and device type. It uses no cookies, does not associate analytics records with an individual or IP address, and resets its visitor identifier every 24 hours.
Time n Tell does not use your information for advertising, does not sell it, and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
How we use information
We use this information to provide the features you request, draw routes you choose to record, synchronize your saved account data, authenticate your account, provide the AI Access connection you request, prevent abuse, support account deletion, operate the service, understand aggregate visits to the product website, and understand aggregate in-app usage to improve the product.
Service providers
- Clerk provides account authentication and security. Clerk processes account, device, network, and sign-in interaction information for those purposes.
- AssemblyAI receives microphone audio directly from the app when you request realtime transcription and returns transcript text. The paid Time n Tell workspace is opted out of model training. AssemblyAI documents zero audio and transcript retention for Streaming under that configuration, while retaining limited operational metadata for logging and billing.
- Fly.io hosts the Time n Tell API and database that store your account identifier and saved content.
- Vercel hosts the public Time n Tell website and provides anonymous, aggregated Web Analytics.
- PostHog provides in-app behavioral analytics and crash/error diagnostics, processed on PostHog's EU cloud. Time n Tell decides how this data is used; PostHog processes it on Time n Tell's behalf.
- Your selected AI client and its provider are not Time n Tell service providers. If you use AI Access with a local client such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex CLI, or OpenCode, that client may send your questions and the activity data it receives, including activity notes, to the AI provider you selected. The client's and provider's own privacy, retention, and model-improvement settings apply to that information. Time n Tell does not choose, receive, or infer the client or provider identity.
Clerk, AssemblyAI, Fly.io, Vercel, and PostHog process information on Time n Tell's behalf to deliver their respective services. Your selected AI client and provider are independent third parties, not Time n Tell service providers.
Storage and retention
Saved activities and journal entries remain in your account until you delete them or delete your account. The app also keeps a local copy on your device for normal operation. Route recordings remain only on your device until you delete the associated activity, sign out, or delete your account; they are not included in device backups. Signing out removes that account's other locally stored Time n Tell data as well, but it does not revoke AI Access. AI Access retains the key's non-secret metadata and one-way verification data while the key is active or revoked. Revocation disables access but does not immediately erase that metadata; it remains until you replace the key or account deletion removes it. In-app analytics events are retained for 12 months and then deleted. Providers may retain limited information as needed to provide and secure their services, meet legal obligations, and maintain billing or operational records under their applicable terms. An AI provider may retain questions, answers, and activity notes sent through the client under its own terms and settings.
Your choices
Microphone access and route recording are optional. You can turn route recording off in Time n Tell Settings and manage microphone or location permission in iOS Settings. Deleting an activity also deletes its locally stored route. You can edit or delete other saved activities and journal entries in the app. In Settings > AI Access, you can replace the active key, which invalidates the previous key immediately, or revoke AI Access, which stops future access immediately. Signing out alone does not revoke it. We rely on legitimate interest to process in-app analytics; you may object at any time by contacting support@timentell.com, and we will stop processing and delete your analytics data. Deleting your account also removes your analytics data and revokes AI Access when deletion begins. To permanently delete your account and associated Time n Tell data, open Settings and select Delete Account Data. If you cannot access the app, contact support@timentell.com or visit the support page.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when the app or website's data handling materially changes and will revise the effective date above.
